The Duotone Whip D/LAB 2027 Surfboard has been a bestseller in the Duotone surfboard range for years and is built for kiters who still want speed, snap and strapless freestyle performance in weak conditions. That character comes from the shape, and you feel it from your very first wave. The hip-squash tail with increased rocker turns so tightly that you can place your top turns exactly in the lip, even in sections where you would normally overshoot. The fast, drive-oriented rocker line and channel bottom accelerate the board as soon as you apply pressure, and you carry that speed all the way into the final section. Even if the wave dies halfway through, you can easily pump your way through it. And that bottom turn? It loads up so well that you immediately want to find out just how much snap the board has to offer.

Compared to the Whip D/LAB 2026, there is one real change, and that is the new rail shape. The rails are thinner, and you notice it as soon as things get critical. In steep, technical sections, the rail engages with the water more quickly, making the board less likely to slide out and giving you the confidence to push higher up the wave. The rest of the shape and the D/LAB layup remain unchanged, because there was very little to improve. The 2027 also comes in a new colorway.

The biggest difference compared to the Whip SLS is the construction. The D/LAB is 20% lighter, and you feel that both in your arms and in how quickly the board responds. Where the SLS uses a glass fiber layup, a full Innegra wrap and a Carbon T-Stringer, the D/LAB features a +/- 45° carbon fiber deck for maximum performance, a +/- 45° glass fiber base for comfort in chop, a full Innegra base for damping and a Carbon Stringer for that sporty, lively feel. On top of that, it uses the RMF (Reflex Memory Foam) Shock Absorber 3.0 instead of the Cork Shock Absorber 2.0 found on the SLS, reducing impacts and filtering chatter from choppy water. The result is a surfboard that responds more directly and sharply. The SLS remains a strong choice if you want a little more forgiveness and a lower price, while the D/LAB is for riders who want maximum performance.

The Whip is available in 4'11", 5'1" and 5'3", allowing you to match the board to your weight and your home spot.
