Wide entry and full warmth in this women's wetsuit from Prolimit
Getting changed in a windy car park in January. Wetsuits are rarely judged on that, while it is exactly the moment you swear the loudest. The Prolimit Flare 5/4 Double Frontzip 2027 tackles it with a free-zip system, where you attach the zip at the front. That lets the wetsuit open up wide so you step in without a struggle. And it does not cost you any of the warmth you expect from Prolimit in winter.
That wide opening works even better in combination with the Zodiac2 inner lining with Velvet Airflex. A jacquard velvet fleece with a quick drying thermal layer underneath, sliding smoothly over your skin instead of sticking to it. On the water that same lining does the insulation work: moisture gets pulled off your skin and released again fast, so you are not lying there waiting in a cold wet layer.
The outside is Down Airflex, water repellent and quick drying with the feel of down. It lets very little wind through, which after a crash is the difference between carrying on and heading in shivering. The rubber underneath is NaturePrene2, based on natural rubber from FSC certified plantations and topped up with oyster shell powder. Neoprene free, light and with plenty of stretch, exactly what you want in a 5/4mm you wear for hours on end.
The seams are triple glued and blind stitched, with the needle only going half way through the material. That keeps the seam strong and keeps water out, and all thread ends are finished off with tape. On the knees you get KED panels that stretch along when you drop deep into your legs. If water does get in during a heavy wipe-out, the drainholes let it out again and the ankle straps keep everything in place. The wetsuit is CE certified.
