The right hydrofoil depends heavily on your level, weight, riding style, and the conditions you usually foil in. Pay attention to the sweep (how far back the wingtips are angled): more sweep means more stability and forgiveness; less sweep means higher efficiency but more technical control. For freeride or surf, stability is key; for racing, efficiency is everything.

Many brands now design their hydrofoils modularly, allowing you to mix and match masts, fuselages, and wings within the same system. This way, you can easily adapt your setup to the conditions, your level, or your preferred style — for example, a larger wing for light wind or a faster one for freeride or racing. However, not every brand uses the same mounting system. Common types include plate mounts, track mounts, or Tuttle boxes, and these are not always interchangeable.
